The final phase of the Village Improvement Committee's 5 year project is the installation of an information board. We decided to go for an “audio board” rather than a standard text one and, it has to be said, this has proved a little fraught. However, it is now finally fully working.
There will be a short speech by Peter Berry – Peter is a long-time resident of Spondon, past Councilor and was Mayor of the City for a year. However, his chief claim to fame is that he lived on the site when the army huts that were there after the war. It is his family picture that we have on the board. Also we’ll hear a bit from Jon Beeson from Severn Trent Water – who donated most of the money for the board. We will also be joined by pupils of Asterdale School in Spondon, who contributed to the design.
