Every year Spondon Neighbourhood Board agrees projects that are funded from a budget provided by Derby City Council from the Streetpride service.
This year £17,333 has been allocated to deliver projects that aim to help tackle some of the Boards priorities including “Improve the environment in Spondon” and “Create a thriving and vibrant Spondon”. This year, the projects funded by the Board include:
ROAD CLOSURES: The Board is pleased to support Spondon Traders Association by covering the costs of the two road closures that are needed for Spondon Day in June 2015 and for Spondon Alight in November 2015. Without the road closures on Sitwell Street these events would not be the success they are and play such an important part in the cultural calendar on offer for Spondon residents.
FREE BULKY WASTE SERVICE: Spondon Neighbourhood Board is allocating funding again from 1 October 2015 to allow residents to have items removed free of charge if they use the Bulky Waste service. Full details here.
BULB PLANTING: The Board continues to support the plans to improve the space around Spondon Village Hall and once again this year has funded new plants, and tree and bulbs that will continue to improve the appearance of open space around the hall. The village already benefits from previous bulb planting projects with colourful displays each year in spaces such as Dale Road Park, Willowcroft Road Park and on corner of Locko Road and West Road.
FOOTWAY IMPROVEMENTS: The Board has funded the footway improvements now completed on Burnside Drive. The funding from the Devolved Streetpride budget has provided a new protective barrier on the footway seals it from bad weather and reduces cracks and prevents deterioration so prolonging the life of the footway.
