As residents may be aware, the Section 30 Dispersal Order which gave the police extra powers to remove people causing Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) in Spondon has now expired. The order can only last for 6 months before it needs to be reviewed by officers with calls for service and need for the order having to be considered.
The Section 30 order has been a huge success and has seen ASB Calls in Spondon reduced dramatically, often with no calls relating to ASB even on weekends. With this it has been decided that, at this time, the Section 30 order will not be renewed.
Police still have various powers which they can use to tackle ASB such as the power to stop search if we believe anyone to be carrying alcohol underage. They also have the power to remove alcohol from a person who may be of age but are in the company of any young person who is under 18. We will deal positively with anyone buying alcohol for person under 18.
Spondon SNT are aware that problems may resurface, and to tackle this we ask local residents to report any incidents of ASB to police so we can get a true picture of calls, which may in future help if plans for a new Section 30 is considered. We are also conducting high visibility patrols with extra patrols on Friday and Saturday Evenings.
