Safer Neighbourhood Team - November Updates

Spondon has seen a slight rise in the number of daytime house burglaries and night time shed and garage burglaries.

The SNT have increased patrols with both plain clothes and uniformed officers out and about around the village, and also offer this simple crime prevention advice to avoid you becoming a victim:

To keep your property secure:

· Make sure all windows and doors are locked before going out or going to bed.

· Try not to keep house/window keys close to the doors and windows but keep them in a safe place should you need to get out quickly.

· Keep doors locked even if you are at home

· Keep valuables out of sight

· Use your house alarm if you have one

For shed and garage security:

· Use outdoor lighting

· Use good quality locks on all sheds and garages.

· Secure items in the shed, such as lawnmowers, pedal cycles and tools

· Get all property security marked. (See below)

· Use a shed alarm and/or install CCTV

· Keep all side entrances locked to prevent access.

The Spondon Safer Neighbourhood Team will also mark property free of charge. This can be done by calling 101 and asking to speak to the team.

There is also the Safer Spondon group, which is run by local residents and offers a wide range of security and safety products at a small cost.   They also sell smartwater to security mark all your property in all parts of the home.

If you would like more info on any of the above please contact a member of the team on 101 or you can follow us on twitter - @spondonSNT.
