Photos and memories wanted for new local books

Spondon Archive are producing a new book about the history of scouting in Spondon, based on the Jim Moore book of 1970 with Les Pearson bringing it up to date.

If anybody has any photos or other memorabilia which will help us to illustrate the book, could they please contact Les Pearson by phone 01332-666512 or e-mail l_pearson2@sky.com.

Any items will be looked after and returned as soon as we have copied or photographed them. We may also ask if we can add photographs to the Historical Society website. We hope to publish the book by the end of the year.

Also in preparation is a book about Spondon Cinema on Sitwell Street (now the Co-op Funeral Parlour). If anybody has any photos, other memorabilia, anecdotes or memories they'd like to share, please contact Anita Hayes on 01332-662963 or anita.hayes31@btinternet.com.

Spondon Archive is a joint venture between the Historical Society and the Village Improvement Committee, with 5 books published so far. The books are available to buy in various shops around the village, priced just £2.50 each.
