Spondon is very lucky to have a great community spirit - something which is enhanced further by the number of fantastic local events and other initiatives that take place in the village. Behind each of these activities is a Community Champion - someone giving up their time and making a huge effort for the benefit of others.
The opportunity is open once again to recognise the efforts of those individuals in Spondon who go the extra mile for the community, as the Derby Telegraph launches this year's Community Champions awards.
The scheme has run for the past few years and encourages people to nominate individuals in their community who make a real difference in their local area through their volunteer efforts.
It could be a friend, family member or neighbour who gives up their time to do something which benefits the local community; perhaps a local club leader such as scouts/guides leaders or local sports team coaches; or someone else in the community who you know makes a big effort to support and improve Spondon.
It's quick and easy to nominate your Community Champion, either by cutting the nomination form out of the paper or by using their online nomination form. You'll find a copy of the form at the bottom of this article on the Telegraph website:

Let's ensure that our own local Community Champions in Spondon get the recognition they deserve. Get your nomninations in before Friday 5th April.
