Spondon residents have been pulling together in recent weeks to raise money for a number of local charities.
Staff and customers at our local Asda Store have recently presented a cheque for over £6,000, with more to come, to the charity appeal for help to support a Church Homeless Shelter in the City.
Through in-store collections and a sponsored sleep out in the store car park enough funds have been raised to maintain this vital service during the winter.
Councillors Poulter and Williams are pictured top right with Derby Mayor, Fareed Hussain, before they prepared to bed down on the car park for the night.
Meanwhile, customers and staff at Spondon's White Swan pub have raised £1420 for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre in Skegness.
Colin Chambers raised £440 through a sponsored beard and hair grow, whilst Nick Gamble and Josh Storer raised £980 by riding their bikes to Skegness from Derby.
They are pictured handing the cheque to a delighted David Harris, the regional organiser for the Holiday centre, who announced that the people of Spondon are the biggest contributors to the cause in the County!
Very well done to all involved.
