A new government run scheme aimed at young people to help them better their local community is setting up a new project to improve life for residents at St Werburgh’s House Care Home.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) supports youngsters who are keen to make a difference in their local community by running voluntary projects to help improve their local areas.
As part of the scheme, Derby College has formed a team of young people called Cloud 9, and their planned first project is to renovate St Werburgh’s House Care Home garden in order to improve it for its residents.
Team member Kieran Truby-Ware, who lives in Spondon, said: "Since I live in Spondon myself, I know that this is an area passed through by many local people and so felt it was a perfect place to channel our efforts into.
"However to do this, we are in need of donations from the community. To carry out our plans, we need a number of garden benches, wood paint and stone features."
Any local business or residents who feel they could help to support to project in some way is encouraged to contact Kieran by email at k.trubyware@gmail.com.
